It's that time again - we are under two weeks away from the premier event of the rowing season, our very own Charlie Butt Scullers' Head of the Potomac Regatta!
We have a fantastic committee hard at work on all the final planning and preparation, but We! Need! Your! Help! We absolutely cannot run the regatta without a legion of volunteers.
You might be asking yourself, "Do I have the skills to be a volunteer?" The answer is an unequivocal YES. If you can:
- Check items off on a clipboard!
- Drive a launch!
- Pick up coffee or bagels or gas!
- Sit in a launch or in a chair or on a rock on the shore!
- Use a megaphone or a walkie-talkie or a stopwatch!
- Check boats for shoe tie-downs!
- Talk to people!
- Tidy up!
...then you have what it takes to be a regatta volunteer!
So, where can you sign up for these opportunities - or, as John and I like to call them, SHOPportunities? Why, right here! (When you scroll down through the list, make sure to click on "show more spots" in the orange box to see all the SHOPportunities available to you.)
What will you receive in return? Coffee and bagels in the morning, a very cool t-shirt, a boxed lunch, possibly a light sunburn, and deepest thanks and undying gratitude from your regatta co-chairs and committee members.
Do you have to be a member to volunteer? Nope - we welcome all friends and family members!
