Please read: PBC’s Wet Weather Erg Policy
Author Last Post

In the event of wet weather, PBC’s ergs may be used only on the second floor covered veranda/deck just outside the ballroom doors. Specifically, in wet weather ergs may only be used under the cover of the roof over the veranda/deck, and ergs may not be used on the patio outside the green tent or on the third floor in wet weather.

As a rule of thumb, wet weather is raining/misting. If a newspaper would start getting wet because of the conditions, it is wet weather and too wet to erg uncovered.

Ergs must be separated at least 6’ apart. The deck/veranda will accommodate roughly 7-8 ergs at once if evenly spaced and placed perpendicular to the river and boathouse.

When putting ergs away after using them, please put them back inside and make certain that they are dry. Do not put ergs away wet, as they will rust and the club’s assets will be damaged.

Please open both ballroom doors and have them secured open when moving ergs in and out of the ballroom. Moving ergs through single open doors is a tight fit and often results in ergs and doors bumping against each other, abd we don’t want to do hundreds of dollars of damage to doors and ergs when damage can be easily avoided by simply opening both doors.

Finally, please be mindful that this wet weather accommodation is an effort to provide erging outlets when they otherwise might not be available. If ergs are used in the rain or left outside in the rain, the mechanical parts will be damaged. In such case PBC will have to act to limit opportunities for assets to be damaged. This prohibiting any erging at PBC by anyone in wet weather as a blanket policy.

Let me know if you have any questions.
