WHO WE ARE - HOW TO JOIN - RACING SCHEDULE - EXPECTATIONS

PBC Women’s Sweep Team is a dedicated group of competitive women, united by a shared commitment to excellence in rowing and a deep passion for the sport. Whether you're a recent college grad looking to stay in racing shape, or a seasoned oarswoman returning to the water, you'll find a crew and a shared purpose with us on the Potomac.

We have a proud legacy that began in the 1970s, coinciding with the formal recognition of women’s rowing as an intercollegiate sport. Since then, we’ve consistently produced strong results at local, national, and international regattas—and we’re only building more momentum.

We value hard work, team spirit, and the thrill of moving boats fast. Through early mornings and uncompromising training we build speed, trust and grit. We are close-knit. We are proud. We are PBC Women’s Sweep.

EXPECTATIONS

Our practices are typically on-water, Monday-Friday (5:10-7am), Saturday (6:45-8:45am) with one weekday off during non-peak racing season. Winter training with the team comprises erging and on-water practices (if warm enough) and is strongly encouraged. This time plays a critical role in building the foundation for a competitive racing season and our long-term training plan.

This is not a learn-to-row program — prior competitive rowing experience at collegiate, club, or masters level is expected. During peak racing season, regular attendance at water practices is essential for building boat speed, cohesion, and team success. We recognize that life and work commitments can impact attendance at times,  but emphasize accountability and consistency as much as possible.

We hope to see you join our crew and help turn hard work into strong results!
